Celebrating and Promoting International Education and Exchange

The activities on and off campus are designed to celebrate the diversity and achievements of UNO's international student population. They will also serve to educate the campus and surrounding communities about the rich cultures that are represented at UNO.

"International education enriches the lives of everyone who becomes involved culturally, academically and socially," said Tom Gouttierre, Dean of International Studies and Programs at UNO and UNMC. "However, one of the most important contributions is the mutual understanding that results among those who participate in international exchanges and the potential this has for global stability and peace."

This past year, there were over 1,300 international participants at UNO. The four countries that provide the greatest number of students are Japan, India, China, and Saudi Arabia. In all, 115 countries--ranging from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe--were represented on campus.
