There are many reasons, but here are five that we think you'll find most important:

UNO offers more than 200 accredited academic programs. Many have earned recognition for excellence. For example, these graduate programs are ranked among the best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report:
For a full listing of all UNO's academic offerings, check out Undergraduate Programs and Graduate Programs.
Each year, almost 1,700 international students from more than 120 countries attend UNO, creating a vibrant community for studying, collaborating, and learning about the world. Regular international events - field trips, cultural fairs, games, picnics - help new students get to know each other and feel at home. Check out what's happening at world.unomaha.edu.
We know that international students have unique needs and interests, and we pride ourselves in being responsive and flexible. For example, many students, while lacking English proficiency, are otherwise qualified for undergraduate or graduate coursework. These students may receive conditional admission. They know in advance that they can begin studies in a degree program immediately after completing intensive English classes. Learn more about your Intensive English Options.
Check out some of the recognition Omaha has earned in recent years:
Omaha is a vibrant, culturally diverse metropolis, offering big-city attractions in a safe, small-town atmosphere. It is the most affordable place to live in the United States. Our economy is strong and growing. Our downtown area and other unique commercial districts feature shopping, restaurants, parks, concerts, night clubs, and the finer arts. No matter where they are from, students in Omaha find food, friends, entertainment, and places of worship that make them feel at home. Check out all that Omaha offers in Housing, Campus, & Community.
UNO's International Admissions and Advising office is a one-stop shop for everything you need - visa assistance, airport pickup, housing arrangements, and advice on financial aid. Our advisors have the biggest hearts in the business. They've been welcoming international students to Omaha for many years, and they have plenty of international experience themselves through studying abroad or serving in the Peace Corps.
Equally important, we want you on our campus because we believe that international exchange is important - for you, for all of UNO's students, and for the future of the world. At UNO, you can learn, grow, and advance your academic and career goals. You can also contribute to the diversity of thought and the global orientation of our campus. We hope you will join us.
