Volunteers

There is a lot of work to do at a tel! Archaeologists are especially thankful for the many volunteers who give one, two or three weeks of their summer to "get their hands dirty."

Using everything from pick axes and shovels to dental tools and paint brushes to remove dirt, Bethsaida volunteers carefully uncover centuries of history.

Volunteers stay cool by keeping to the shade while they work.

Before being sent on to the museum for further examination, volunteers wash and sort each find.

Sometimes a really exciting find is uncovered. Drew and Jenni stand beside the bull stele they found in 1997!
