Bethsaida Exhibit

See some artifacts from this exhibit...

Imagine being able to see pottery, coins and fishing implements from the time of Jesus and King David. Then imagine ancient jewelry made of gold, silver and glass. People will get the chance to see all of these things at “Bethsaida Excavations: Life Revealed in the Layers,” presently on display at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO).

The current exhibit, sponsored by the Marguerite A. Scribante Foundation, includes a number of important pieces. More than 30 coins, ancient fishing implements, and an exact replica of the stele found at the site will be on display. The stele, a marker that would have been at the city gate in Bethsaida, depicts a bull-like creature that represents the moon god that was worshipped in the city.

“Bethsaida Excavations: Life Revealed in the Layers” will be on display in Arts & Sciences Hall, Room 343, through Summer 2003. Viewing hours are 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Guided tours and weekend or evening hours are available by appointment. Groups are welcome, and there is no admission fee.
