International Education Week

UNO takes part in International Education Week each fall in the week before Thanksgiving. IEW 2012 will be Nov. 12-16. Download the Master Schedule.

INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION WEEK

2012 CELEBRATION NOV. 12-16

Organized by the U.S. Departments of State and Education, IEW is a week to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange. Local events at UNO and other universities and schools around the world demonstrate that international education is not just about physically crossing borders, but also thinking and acting globally in our local communities. CAFE INTERNATIONALE

The signature IEW event at UNO is Cafe Internationale, an open house with refreshments, music, country display tables, and international student presentations. This is also where photo contest winners will be announced. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2 to 4 p.m. in Arts & Sciences Hall 241. Everyone is invited!

International Photo Contest

Submission deadline: Wed. 7 Nov. by midnight

Voting at Criss Library: 12 to 14 Nov.

Exhibition at Library: 12 to 19 Nov.

The annual International Photo Contest, sponsored by International Studies & Programs, the Sigma Iota Rho honors society members, and generous prize donors, will be on display for voting in the Criss Library during IEW. This year, a separate online winner will also be chosen by the number of likes on the UNO Study Abroad Facebook page.

To apply, read the full guidelines and complete the entry form and e-mail it, along with one to three photos, to ehendrix@unomaha.edu.

Prizes will include gift cards to Starbucks (courtesy of Residence Inn), Ponzu Sushi & Grill, and Aksarben Cinema. Thank you, generous donors!

The Andy Award

This year’s winner of the Andy Award for International Journalism will be announced. The recipient will receive funding to support a new international reporting project.

Nebraska Neighbors
